Part-Time Research Officer (0.6 FTE)
Starting Salary: £30,122 (on Grade 7) p.a.
Applications are invited for the above post with Professor Andrew Pullin in the Centre for Evidence-Based Conservation (www.cebc.bangor.ac.uk) and Professor Michel Kaiser in the School of Ocean Sciences. CEBC is recognised as a world leader in evidence-based practice in conservation and environmental management and seeks to appoint a talented individual to further strengthen our programme of research aimed at improving the use of science to inform environmental policy and practice.
The post-holder will be responsible for conducting a NERC-funded Knowledge Exchange programme on End-user testing of an open-access database of research syntheses: the Environmental Evidence Database of Research Syntheses. The successful applicant will possess a PhD in a relevant subject. They will have experience of working at the science-policy interface that demonstrates potential to successfully conduct and communicate research of international quality. They will have experience of database and website design and management and also possess a strong interest in environmental management.
The successful candidate will be expected to start by 01 July 2012, or as soon as possible thereafter and the post is available for 12 months.

British Ecological Society Fellowship at POST (posted 28/03/2011)

Fellowship at the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST).
This fantastic opportunity allows a second or third year PhD student,
based at a UK institution, to spend three-months at the Houses of
Parliament in Westminster researching and drafting a POSTnote or
contributing to a parliamentary inquiry. The POST Fellow receives £5,000
from the BES to support their living costs whilst in London working for
POST.

*International Outgoing Fellowships (IOF)*

IOP aims to reinforce the international dimension of the career of
European researchers by giving them the opportunity to be trained and
acquire new knowledge in a high-level organisation active in research
established in a third country* (outgoing phase) after which they will
return with the acquired knowledge and experience (reintegration phase).
Grants will be for a maximum 36 month (12 to 24 months for the outgoing
phase and 12 months for reintegration). Projects must include a coherent
